 Asia Pacific Operation Director ( food industry) 

 
Location: Shanghai or Beijing or Tianjin
 
Duties & Responsibilities: 
 
1.To lead plant operations in Asia Pacific Region plants.
2.Develop the company culture across the operations team with high ethical standards and world class plant operations in safety, customer satisfaction, engaged work teams, reliability, and costs. 
3.Take responsibility for the development of the production team and plant/production managers.  Set the example of the Company leadership model for the plant operations team.
4.Plant Operations: Develop and deploy business processes that enable the production teams at China and Southeast Asia to be successful meeting location goals, BU goals and Company Strategic intent goals. Deploy the best plant model of the business excellence process to ensure to have the most efficient best operating plants. 
5.Organize, sets priorities and monitor annual plans for the plants as well as balanced scorecard and standard & goals. Share results with employees. Serves as a role model to all employees.  Set and manage policies to ensure performance in line with corporate and legal requirements.
6.Process Safety and Food Safety: Develop and deploy business processes that align with Safety and Food Safety policies. Insure audits are completed and action items addressed. A safety process which includes behavior based safety is deployed with a goal of zero accidents. A food safety process is deployed that prevents any food safety recalls.
7.Process Quality: Ensure processes are in place to hold plants accountable to perform according to specifications and standards. Deploy the management of change process and insure it is followed and recorded. Monitors standard & goals. Insure all plants day to day performance is in accordance with Company policies.
8.Employee Engagement: Develop and deploy operational practices that create an engaged operations team in all locations. Create positive two-way communications; deploy fair and consistent administration of company policy and procedures; build employee morale and a productive workforce. Give regular feedback including insuring the performance management process is deployed for operations employees. Coach and counsel direct reports and other employees for career development. Plan for future needs with a talent development process.  Lead the BU recognition efforts through coaching of the BU recognition team. 
9.Community Relations: Identifies priorities in the community based on the business plan. Participate in community relations activities and encourages others to serve the community where the facility is located.
10.Financial: Work with facility managers and operations teams to prepare and manage the operational budget. Tracks expenditures in key area, makes adjustments to control costs as needed, and communicates progress to others. Ensures Company’s financial system are implemented and followed. Uses value measures to evaluate financial results.
11.Capital Projects/Project Management: Work with location teams to insure that base capital is planned and deployed to capture value and reliability.  
12.Extensive traveling to plant sites within the region
13.Meet all government requirements for EHS, food safety and operations.
14.Be cost competitive through reliable efficient operations in a highly cost competitive environment
15.Develop contact with peers and resources overseas and assist location teams to do the same.
16.To participate in local community activities.
17.Ongoing changes in the marketplace requiring continuous evaluation/adjustment of operational plans.
 
 
Requirements:
 
1.Bachelor of science degree in Engineering (Food, Chemical or Mechanical), 
2.Ten years of senior manufacturing management experience in an international food manufacturing environment. (preferably with cross functional experience)
3.Familiarity and ability to manage across major countries in Asia Pacific
4.Working knowledge of Food Safety, Safety and Environmental regulations
5.Ability to evaluate overall manufacturing performance. Able to design manufacturing performance
6.Metrics that will drive performance and appropriate corrective actions.
7.In-depth experience in at least one other key supply functional area in addition to manufacturing e.g., Engineering, Project Management
8.Experience in a role providing some international or regional perspective
9.Strong technology background, able to understand complex manufacturing processes
10.Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills..
11.Technical knowledge and experience with process unit operations
12.Strong technology background, able to understand complex manufacturing processes
13.Demonstrated team building, leadership and conflict resolution skills
14.Ability to effectively communication (written, verbal, presentation skills) at multiple levels and customer organizations,  
15.Strong Operation and Technology background with a good business sense
16.Able to manage large teams
